Now Below is a list of terms or expressions I've compiled for all you landlubbers who might not know any nautical or school related jargon. In a perfect world I would frequently update this page as I continue writing, but this world is far from perfect and the truth is, I'm gonna assume you know what im talking about. if you want something added to the list, e-mail me. otherwise its not gonna change.

Bars:(1) the fake rank given to seniors so that they can boss the rest of the school around. named for the skinny gold bars worn on the collar. Never trust people who have them.
(2) a place where Alcohol is served for the purpose of drowning you misery. see "gods gift to earth"
C
Cadet: the kids at our school
Class I-III: Different severity of rule breaking, class III being the least seviere and class I being most.
Typical class III offences: not shaving, being late to class being out of uniform, not having your room clean on any given day
Typical class II offences: drinking, being around people drinking, disrespecting and officer
Typical class I offences: setting fire to the school, killing a kid,
ComCad: comcad refers to the actual staff at my school responsible for managing the regimented side of the school, and the office they work in.
D
Deck: aka Marine Transportation. Deck is easy but (most of) the teachers make it hard. deck is one of the hardest majors at our school. Deckies steer the ship. Deck is one of the two licensed majors.
Demerits: aka Bad job points. the demerit system works as follows: whenever you are caught (or are assumed to be) breaking the rules (not shaving, drinking, masturbating) you get a tap sheet(class I-III). then you bring the tap sheet to kangaroo court where you try to prove your innocence and they tell you your guilty. once your found guilty you get a certain number of demerits depending on the severity of the offense. once your total reaches a certan number you get kicked out.
E
ED: aka Extra Duty. hours of labor done for the school as punishment. ED recieved = demerits ÷ 2. records of ed hours done are frequently lost which leads to more ed.
Engine: aka Marine Engineering. Engineering is a hard major but (most of) the teachers try to make it easy. still one of the hardest majors in the school. Engineers make the ship go. Engineering is one of the two licensed majors.

Lisence: a coastguard license
Licensed Cadets: cadets whos majors require a CG lisence. deck and engine cadets.

Morning Formation: aka MoFo is a little mandatory parade for ourselves that we do every morning at 0715.

Seaterm: a 6 week period held every winter where we get packed into the academy training ship like sardines, and sail around the Caribbean.
Shitbag: (1) someone who does not care about the rules anymore and does not follow them.
(2) someone who gets in trouble alot be it by there own fault or not.
ShortFo: a kinda shortened version of MoFo. see "Morning formation"
STCW: Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping. Its the bane of every licensed cadets existence. STCW sets the standards for all people wishing to enter the Maritime field, be it AB or Third Mate. wiki it
